For All You Pin-Up Girls!

Little Lily Designs!

Designer Eva, hand makes these adorable pin-up inspired bows that can be worn in your hair or even clipped onto your clothes! You can even share them with your daughter, the clips being the kind least likely to pull. Available in plain colored satin, or cute patterns like skulls, lipstick kisses, hearts, anchors... I absolutely LOVE these!

Eva was kind enough to send me samples of her product, and I can attest to both their quality and functionality, and their fashionability and uniqueness.

You can find her designs either HERE (her myspace page) or HERE (her website)!

Something else thats amazing about Little Lily Designs, is her "Pin-up Angels" line of camo-patterned bows. At $8 a piece, all proceeds go towards care packages being sent to our troops overseas! How generous!

Loves it!

Products I Actually Use: Smashbox Photo Finish SPF 15

This is truly an amazing product! You apply it to your face AFTER your moisturizer but BEFORE your foundation. It acts as a primer for your makeup, filling in fine lines and reducing the appearance of pores. Additionally, it treats your skin to PREVENT further fine lines, and extends the life of your makeup application! They have it available without the SPF, but you can never be too safe!

From the Smashbox website:

"Prime, protect and correct all-in-one with our newest, hottest primer. Same complexion perfecting formula as our best selling PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER, but with an added SPF 15 and advanced skin treatment called DERMAXYL™ COMPLEX that moisturizes the skin and works to reduce the appearance of those pesky little lines and wrinkles. So you’re not only going to get a smoother, longer-lasting makeup application each day, but over time you’ll also see the positive anti-aging effects of DERMAXYL™ COMPLEX on your skin. Talk about multi-tasking, this little life saver has your every skin need covered. *Primer has slight pink hue due to ingredients but goes on skin completely clear. "

Proof I use it:

Try it out yourself here!

Products I Actually Use: Moroccan Oil

I have naturally curly hair, and though I love to sport wild ringlets, I have bangs now which means constant straightening. Blowdrying with a round brush rather than using a flat iron tends to give my hair amazing curve and body. Over the years I have become quite expert at it, if I can be so bold to brag. Additionally, I have probably tried every styling product created to straighten hair, eliminate frizz and flyaways, protect hair from heat damage, keep the hair smooth without adding weight, being sticky, or feelings greasy. I have tens of bottles of all shapes and colors. Creams, serums, sprays... and I usually end up using a combination of the above to get the results I actually want. Always ending up able to feel the product in my hair when I touch it after styling.

I went to the Beverly Center a couple of days ago and wandered into the beauty supply store, in search of Neem Oil. It's what my stylist (the AMAZING Guy Riggio @ John Frieda on Melrose Place) told me he uses when straightening my hair. After one of his blow dry's I can't stop running my fingers through my hair because I can actually feel IT and not PRODUCT. Anyway, I asked the guy working there if he had Neem Oil and he said no, but that his customer's seem to be going crazy over Moroccan Oil. He made claim's of just starting to sell the product this month and already selling out numerous cases. The man did not seem like a hair care expert by any means, but I thought I would give it a try. At $38.99 for 3.4oz, I took a gamble.

Tonight after a long relaxing bath, I washed my hair and decided to treat myself to a blow dry using the Moroccan Oil. Let me tell you. I do not rave easily. But I dried my hair in probably half the time it usually takes me. My hair is unbelievably soft, shiny, and manageable. Until today I didn't know the meaning of manageable. I truly like the results of this better than the Neem Oil and fully intend to bring it to my next hair cut so that Guy can try it. I've never brought a product to a stylist. That's how good this is. It's like the more you touch your hair and play with it, the better it looks. Have you ever gotten a blow dry, and when you wake up the next morning it looks better than when you got it? Your hair is like that immediately with this!

I then went straight to their website and discovered they have other products as well, that I fully intend to try out. And of course I will let you know, but only if it is equally stellar. From their site, which is very nicely done, I discovered the main ingredient, Argan oil.

"For centuries Argan oil has traditionally been used by women in Morocco to treat hair and nails in order to counteract the effects of the hot climate and aging. The Argan tree only grows in an area of South West Morocco called Argana. It flourishes in the desert-like conditions and produces lush fruits much like olives yet larger and rounder. Inside the fruit grows a large nut that houses up to three almond-shape kernels which are the source of the miraculous oil.

Argan oil contains unsaturated fatty acids and is rich in tocopherols which works like vitamin E (nature's most powerful antioxidant agent). Argan oil naturally renews cell structure and always consistently restores shines to dull lifeless hair."

They also discuss ways that colorist's can use this product to protect the scalp and hair, and to enhance the overall effectiveness of color absorbtion. Couture Cult is hooked, and emphatically reccomends this product!
