For All You Pin-Up Girls!

Little Lily Designs!

Designer Eva, hand makes these adorable pin-up inspired bows that can be worn in your hair or even clipped onto your clothes! You can even share them with your daughter, the clips being the kind least likely to pull. Available in plain colored satin, or cute patterns like skulls, lipstick kisses, hearts, anchors... I absolutely LOVE these!

Eva was kind enough to send me samples of her product, and I can attest to both their quality and functionality, and their fashionability and uniqueness.

You can find her designs either HERE (her myspace page) or HERE (her website)!

Something else thats amazing about Little Lily Designs, is her "Pin-up Angels" line of camo-patterned bows. At $8 a piece, all proceeds go towards care packages being sent to our troops overseas! How generous!

Loves it!

Takashi Murakami at the Geffen MOCA!

I finally got a chance to get to the MOCA to see the Murakami exhibit, which will only be showing until February 11th! So if you have waited all this time, get in gear and go check it out!

I ignored the clearly posted sign stating no pictures or video would be allowed, and managed to take the pics in this slideshow below with my iPhone.

Inside the exhibit, Louis Vuitton built their first ever "pop-up store" where they sold special edition items with Murakami's designs and characters. Items that have been selling out like crazy, and are popping up on ebay already! By the time I made it in to make a purchase, the now infamous Murakami Neverfull bag was only available in the small size. They also still had a planner with one of the artists new characters on it. I wasnt able to get a picture of it though. However, here is a pic of my very own Murakami Neverfull!

I love it SO much! I also picked up the museum's book of the exhibit. You can check it out here:

Something else exciting about the exhibit was the room set up for viewing the music video "Good Morning", by Kanye West. Murakami did the entire video is his classic style, and I really loved it. The only place you can see this video is at the MOCA. There is this one bootleg version on YouTube, but its not the best. You get the idea.

If you are in Los Angeles, it's definitely worth it to check out this exhibit!

Serious Baggage: Envirosax

I admit I feel a twinge of guilt when I am at the grocery store and the checker asks if I would prefer paper or plastic. Either way you go you are either killing a tree or filling a landfill. One of the easiest and most basic things we can do to save trees and prevent waste from non-biodegradable bags is to use reusable bags to take our stuff home in.

Fortunately, I have recently discovered a reusable grocery tote that is actually VERY cute and chic! Envirosax are eco-friendly and reuseable, and they actually have me excited about the idea of using them, unlike the previous reusable bags I have seen that look like a plain jane potato sack with shoulder straps. Get me looking at it as an accessory and I am that much more likely to use it! Which is the point, right?

The designs are truly cool. In the graphic series, there are 5 sets of designs. You can purchase single bags for $8.50, or you can choose the pouch, which has 5 coordinating bags of your chosen design set, that all fit into a conveniently sized pouch which will easily fit into your glove compartment for only $37.95. The monochromatic set and the retro set are my favorite! They also have an organic series that is manufactured using bamboo, linen and a fine grade hemp.

Right now they are also giving away FREE with the purchase of a pouch set, a shower timer to help remind you to conserve our water resources. Who'd have thunk it... a company who cares!

Take a second to visit their website to check out the bags and learn more about the company! Or, check out these pics below, my fav's from each graphics set!

This Just In... Stores: White Trash Charms Does Disney Couture

White Trash Charms has long been a favorite of mine. Their shop on Hillhurst in Los Angeles is one of the first places I go when I have a gift to buy, or want to splurge a little bit on something new for myself. But those of you not lucky enough to live near a retail location of theirs, can click on any link or image in this post and be directed to their website! I discovered them when our correspondent (and my best friend!) Amelia gave me this awesome piece about a year ago:

Their styles usually come in sterling silver, gold vermeil, and 14k gold, and also typically are available in 3 sizes. Worn by so many celebrities it would be impossible to list them all, featured in so many publications it would be impossible to index them all, they are truly growing into such a style influence we just had to tell you about them!

Some pieces I have purchased:

Their new line, Disney Couture, is truly amazing and believe it or not, sophisticated! These are not your little sisters Disney charms. The pieces are truly beautiful, with no detail over looked. Some of my favorites from their latest line:

The best part about these 3 favorites of mine is they are each $50 or less! Seriously, take minute to browse their website! If you aren't already a fan, trust me, you will be.

A Sparkling Auction at Christie’s: BLING

I would like to take a moment to introduce you all to Couture Cult's very first correspondent! Covering all things FETCH & FABULOUS in NYC, Amelia Posada! My best friend and fellow fashionista, I hope you guys get to love her! Her first story for us is, OF COURSE, covering a jewel auction held at Christie's...

A Sparkling Auction at Christie’s
By Amelia Posada

The stakes were high as bidders from around the globe took part in one of the most anticipated auctions of the season at Christie’s yesterday, where buyers had the chance to bid on some rare and important jewels, as well as some items from the estate of the late actress Lucille Ball.

Private dealers, jewelry connoisseurs, and spectators packed into the saleroom at Christie’s annual fall “Magnificent Jewels” auction and within the first 45 seconds of the sale, the first item – a pair of silver candlesticks by Buccellati, had jumped from $4,000 to $10,000.

The sale started promptly at 10am, and the room was buzzing with chatter as the bidding wars began with Christie’s employees bidding by proxy for people via telephone and internet, vying with bidders in the audience.

The total in sales for the day was $38,878,650, the highest selling item going for $2,885,800 and the lowest selling item, a colored diamond ring, going for $1,375.

The most anticipated sale of the day was an extremely rare blue diamond ring, a 5.07-carat rectangular cut “fancy” stone within a pave-set pink diamond, which sold for the highest price of the day to an anonymous buyer over the phone. The blue diamond was simply described as having been the “property of a gentleman”. It was the last sale of the day.

Twelve items from the estate of Lucille Ball were auctioned off, including five pendant necklaces, two watches, two rings, a retro diamond and gold evening bag and matching cigarette case, selling for a combined total of $331,000. Part of the proceeds went to the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center, in Jamestown, NY.

The “Magnificent Jewels” sale is one of the most important and widely anticipated auctions of the year at Christie’s and the sale was very successful.

“It was an amazing, incredible sale,” said Kate Swan, a Christie’s spokeswoman. “We were so pleased; it was a packed room. The jewelry market, the diamond market in particular, is so strong, and it was such a great, great sale, we are all very pleased.”

Truly Fabulous Finds at Target

Last week I went to my local Target to kill some time. I was expecting to pick up some household items, maybe some warm fuzzy socks to wear around the house. I am infamous for the hours I can spend in Target. Wandering the aisles, browsing everything from books to blankets. I made my way through the accessories department. Accessories are just TOO easy to shop for. You don't really have to try them on, and like purses, they always fit. Well, except for rings. Rings don't always come in a whole range of sizes at places like Target.

Anyway, I happened upon the line that Dominique Cohen did especially for Target stores. A jewelry designer that sells her chunky, fun, and sophisticated pieces at high end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, has brought her incredibly "now" style to Target.

I purchased these two necklaces, each for $29.99, and I have been wearing them together. I like that they tie with ribbon. You can adjust the length to go with what you are wearing. I also like to tie one of them with the bow off center so it shows in the front and not behind the neck. It just add's that extra touch of flair.

One is a bunch of chains and ribbon, the other has lace covered "pearls" and ribbon. There is something very "leather and lace" about them. Something hard and yet romantic. I've been wearing them to death!

I then made my way over to the shoe department. To be totally honest with you I was not expecting to find anything there. I seldom do. Once in a while I will find a pair of really cute flip-flops or slippers. So I was pleasantly surprised to find these shoes by Izaac Mizrahi for Target.

Also at $29.99, I felt like I was almost stealing these! I wore them the next day, and I got 3 compliments on them! I couldn't help but whisper "Thanks! They were only $30 bucks! Target! I know! Shhhh!" Mix these with your more pricey pieces and no one will EVER guess you got these great accessories at Target.

And really, that's the key. I firmly believe it is absolutely worth it to invest in your wardrobe. Trust me. But I can only justify dropping $300 on a dress or $500 on a bag, if I average out my expenditures getting some cheaper pieces. It's all about having a good eye. Knowing what "looks expensive", knowing quality when you see it, no matter what the price is. Mix your designer sunglasses with these pieces. Or try them on WITH that $300 dress. No one will know the diff. You could be wearing an outfit that cost less than your watch does, but no one will know if you know how to wear it. How to carry the look you have put together.

This will just be between us, I promise.
