Project Runway: Season 4, Episode 1: "Sew Me What You Got"

Read a synopsis of this episode here!
After watching tonights premier of Project Runway I am even more excited for this season than I was before. Unique designer's, and even some unique designs prevailed.
I am especially proud to have featured the designs of contestant Rami Kashou back in April, before I knew he was going to be a contestant at all. I havent decided exactly what level of skill and insight I am expecting from the others just yet, its hard to tell after just one episode, one outfit... however I can say for sure that I expect Rami to be around for the duration. The dress he made was definitely a signature look for him. Grecian goddess meets silver screen starlet. The judges were obviously as impressed as I was, considering they voted him the winner of the first challenge! I really hope you saw for yourself, the model walking down the runway in this dress, the way it moved and fit so perfectly. This picture does it no justice.

Another look that impressed me was Victorya's black dress. I absolutely adore those straps that rest on the shoulders! When commenting on her dress, re: the sleeves, I loved when Michael Kors said "I know women who will bleed if the dress is gorgeous enough!" The metallic flower is just the right size and bit of pizzaz. I also really enjoy the sheer fabric hanging just below the lower layer of the dress. It's sexy, without being overt.

Um, what was up with Elisa? Sewing the dress ONTO herself? And I mean, really, the dress looked like a home made mermaid costume for Halloween! A little bit of kooky is interesting, but if thats what I wanted to see I would watch something like "I Love New York". I wonder if there is anything to her as a designer, of if the casting people at Bravo were so unnecessarily insecure about how entertaining the show would be that they felt the need to bring her on just because she is so weird. I hope not, the teasers for the rest of the season look great, and there really does seem to be more actual talent this time around than last season.
If you missed this episode, you can meet the contestants by watching this video!
